About Columbia College
Columbia College was established as Christian Female College in 1851 as the first women’s college west of the Mississippi River. In 1970 the college changed its name to Columbia College and became a coeducational four year liberal arts and sciences institution. Columbia College is a non-sectarian college that welcomes students of all religious affiliation. The college has an impressive 14:1 student to faculty ratio, ensuring individualized learning, yet still offers a wide variety of degree programs. 80% of Columbia College faculty holds the highest academic degree possible within their field of study.
In addition to traditional campus-based instruction, Columbia College also boasts an online campus. Nearly 16,000 students take at least one online course each year at Columbia College. The college offers 500 accredited online classes and 19 online degree programs. Columbia College allows its online students the flexibility to stop and start their degree programs whenever they wish, thereby adding to the appeal of online instruction. Columbia College’s online program is accelerated and courses are completed in 8 week sessions offered 5 times per year. The online program is also affordable with tuition starting at just $210 per credit hour.
